Within the neon colour palette, the botanicals of varying hues and tones, could easily become visually heavy or be over stimulating. Using glass test tubes & acrylic rods, would not only create voids of quiet within the chaos but will create transparency.
The 1- 1.5 metre design emerges from the recycled wax base. Glass test tubes were used to hydrate and support the botanicals, the glass being also transparent and reflective. Another element to transparency is the design is being creating in an open manner, there is no were to hide the mechanics of construction. The mechanics are an integral part of the design concept
The inspiration behind the botanicals spilling out of an oil barrel is to embody the dissonance between humankind's actions and the fragile beauty of the natural world, as a botanical spillage is a pleasing substitute to an oil spillage. Bespoke wire pin holders and frames were made to support the floral stems which are placed directly into water.
